HIV/AIDS remains a national and international crisis. UNAIDS report reveals that there are 34 million HIV positive people in the world. In Uganda, 1.2 million people and an estimated 150,000 children live positively. 64,000 Ugandans died of the AIDS virus in 2010. An estimated 2.7 million new infections were also recorded worldwide and Uganda accounts for 124,000 new infections. In fact since 2001, the percentage of new HIV/AIDS infections has risen by 17%. These statistics remain alarming and need attention and commitment if a generation with no AIDS is to be created. People infected with the virus don’t suffer alone. Their families and communities endure similar pain and helplessness.
